Second Eyjafjallajökull Eruption Map

Here is the map of the second eruption, with the first eruption shown on the right. I will keep the map updated with more precise locations and more icons to pinpoint other areas of interest, so bookmark this post. Click on the map’s icons to have an explanation of what they stand for. On a note, you can check all past and new eruption updates by scrolling to the “eruption” category in the dropdown in the sidebar.

The eruption, significantly bigger than the one that started 3 weeks ago, started during the night, has a north-south orientation and a fissure that is 2 kilometers long. The eruption caused massive floods that are now slowly subsiding, for the time being. Hundreds of people have been evacuated from the area. And all this while the country already had enough excitement because of the black report.
