On December 8, 2008 a group of protesters forced their way into the Icelandic Parliament. A years after the incident, nine of these protesters were made scapegoats for the tumults that contributed in bringing the Government down; these individuals risk to be condemned to spend up to sixteen years in prison. The final hearing of this case is going to place in Reykjavík city court on 18-20 January, 2011.
An international week of actions has been called for 10 – 16 January, 2011 in support of the Reykjavík Nine, with manifestations and other initiatives taking place not only in Iceland, but worldwide.
Musicians and bands that are among the most renown in the Icelandic scene are today going to offer their contribution to the cause by performing at NASA, one of capital’s most famous venues. Gates open at 8:30 PM; entry fee is 500 ISK, but donations are very welcome.
