We would like to inform our readers about another important event that is opening this week and should not be overlooked. The Reykjavík Shorts & Docs Film Festival 2011 is going to take place at the Bíó Paradís from January 27 to January 31, 2011.
The festival was born in 2001 thanks to the efforts of the Icelandic Film-maker’s Association, as an encouragement but also as an outlet for film-makers, especially lesser-known, to let their work be brought to a wider public. At the time of its first establishment the event was particularly relevant because it was the only one of its genre in Iceland. Right now there are more occasions — festivals and cineclubs — but the Shorts & Docs Festival still represents an important cultural appointment. For this edition, forty films from Iceland and Scandinavia are going to be screened in the five days of the festival. Animated shorts are also going to have a special program dedicated to them.
You can take a look at the complete festival program (in Icelandic) on the official Facebook page of the event or on the Bíó Paradís site, which also hosts detailed information for each single feature.
